If you have an Xbox 360, you have to get Xbox LIVE. If you ask me, an Xbox doesn’t reach its full potential without LIVE!
Xbox LIVE is the best online game system out there and provides unparalleled communication and gaming. You can do so much! There are two type of Xbox LIVE; you can have the Silver membership or Gold membership. A Silver membership allows you to Voice Chat, use avatars, and download content in the Xbox LIVE Marketplace. Also, Silver memberships are free if you have an Internet connection. Gold memberships allow you to voice chat, video chat, download content from Marketplace, use avatars, take part in multi-player gaming, have or join parties, and stream Netflix movies (if you have a Netflix account). You can upgrade your Silver membership to Gold for just $49.99 for a year, $19.99 for three months, and $7.99 for one month. Buying LIVE in a one-year deal will save $45.89 over twelve one-month subscriptions and $29.97 over four three-month subscriptions.
You can buy subscriptions in package deals (like the Messenger Kit), too. For $39.99 you will get three months of Xbox LIVE Gold, a headset, $10 mail-in rebate, and 100 points to use in the Xbox LIVE Marketplace. For $69.99, you’ll get a full year of Xbox LIVE Gold, a headset, 200 Microsoft Points, and a $20 mail-in rebate. The packages also include one Xbox LIVE Arcade game each.
Xbox Marketplace is another terrific feature! When I first heard of the Xbox LIVE Marketplace, I was skeptical. Paying money to download a new shirt for your character in the game seemed like a waste of time. Well, that stuff still does seem like a waste of time. Where Xbox LIVE Marketplace is really something awesome is that you can download demos, map-packs, and other videos and most of these things are going to be free! This is the absolute smartest and best thing Microsoft has done for the Xbox!
Parties are a way for several people (up to eight) to chat and have fun! Also, gaming with friends is amazing!
