What Happens in Vegas…

Recently, I was in a casino, blasting would-be terrorists with a shotgun.  Well, at least I was in the virtual world.  I was playing Rainbow Six: Vegas 2, a terrific first person shooter game.  It is the follow-up of the wildly popular Rainbow Six: Vegas.  The critically acclaimed game is just as good as its precursor, and I hold it in the highest of regards!

You play as Bishop,  high-ranking veteran of the Rainbow organization, who is an instructor at the organization’s training academy when the game first begins.  You are assisted by Michael Walter, a member of the Commando Royal Marines. You also are assisted by Jung Park, a Korean special ops member.  The antagonist is Gabriel Nowak, a former member of Rainbow.  You are commanded by Domingo Chavez, known as Six.

The game is packed with new and improved weapons.  These include the AKS-74U, FNC, M468, and L85A2 aussalt rifles, the 500 Tactical Shotgun, VZ83 scorpion, AUG Para, and Type05 sub machine guns, and L96 Arctic Warfare and SR25SD sniper rifles. I prefer the M468 for its deadly range and accuracy.  My friend likes the FNC’s rate of fire.

The plot in this game is complex but well made.  You begin in 2005 in Pic De Pyreenes, France.  You are about to rescue hostages when Nowak curses and fires prematurely.  Bishop is then forced to fire onto the terrorists, but Monroe is killed by collateral gunfire from the terrorists who panicked when Nowak first opened fire.

Then the game fast forwards to 2010, where you work to reclaim Vegas.  You fight all over Vegas, looking for bombs and the Cabreros brothers.  You leave Vegas and continue your search, finding Nowak and killing him.  Your search uncovers a bigger and more complex plot to take Vegas.

The game is rather hard, but challenges are good, right?  The game is an excellent buy, and all gamers should have it.  Have fun playing!!
