Console Games, Game Reviews

Thanks to Jacob, we now have a list of games in 2008 that were some of the best for the year, but what now? More games are towering on the horizon, which ones are worth playing? I thought In light of the last article it would be worthy to have a small list of video game prospects quickly beginning to shine in the spotlight.

Heavy Rain (PS3)- Coming from a company known as Quantic Dream, Heavy Rain will throw players into a “movie” environment and allow them to make choices throughout the cinematic experience via a simple control scheme. This may put a new face on video game entertainment; keep a close eye on it.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine (All Consoles)- This may very well be the comic to video game adaptation that fanboys have been waiting for. Could a video game finally do the comic world justice? Check out some recent reviews and screenshots. The game looks beautiful so far.

Dragon Age: Origins (PC)- The biggest known RPG company (Bioware) is pushing out a complete remake of an older version of one of their best games. With classic components and fresh modern enhancements this game certainly will not disappoint.

Splatterhouse (360, PS3)- Need I say more. Splatterhouse is based on BottleRocket’s “The Mark of Kri” with a completely revamped style. It will be an extremely fun, gory and pleasurable action beat-em-up. Come on now, who doesn’t love the old four player arcade beat-em-up games?

StarCraft 2 (PC)- If you’ve never at least heard of the original Starcraft, then you don’t deserve to say you “know” video games. Not much can be said about this one besides the same ol’ “it will be a definite hit” remarks.

Wolfenstein (360)- This is from the big guys in first person shooter universe. You know, they made DOOM and Quake. Of course, the Wolfenstein series is known just as well as the aforementioned series. Will the new game be worth playing? Only time will tell. That, of course, depends on whether or not ID releases this one…

PrototypePrototype (360, PS3, PC)- Radical Entertainment has perfected a great “anti-hero” set in the all-knowing city of New York. What superhero doesn’t have some relation to the Big Apple? Alex (the hero, of course) will fight a plethora of enemies, including worm-like creatures and baddies planning to take control over the city. The release date already has been set back once for the always mentioned “production spruce-ups”. Early screens of this one look awesome. If all goes to plan, this game will be worth owning.

Batman: Arkham Asylum (360, PS3, PC)- This one is the last on the list but certainly not the least. It finally looks like it will be the game to do the Dark Knight justice. Playing Batman will be fun again!
