No, the title does not refer to a new version of the console that is being released…
On November 19th the XBOX 360 will get a completely new interface overhaul. Microsoft is calling the update “the new XBOX experience”. They reveal that the XBOX blade “dashboard” will be completely revamped and have many new features, but what exactly is being changed?
The new interface will completely overwrite the old XBOX dashboard “blades” that XBOX users have come to know. During the update, a progress bar will pop up on the TV screen, and users will not be able to play on the console until the update is completely downloaded and installed. Microsoft claims the new update will provide a much faster and more reliable user interface, with instant connection to the XBOX guide through the normal guide button on the controllers. The update also will introduce a fully customizable avatar, which can be altered in almost every way by appearance. Clothing, facial expressions, body weight and skin color all can be changed to compliment a user’s preferences.
The update also will introduce the brand new Netflix video rental feature on XBOX Live, providing access to over 10,000 movie titles and television shows to XBOX users.
Have no fear, however, previously purchased gamer-pics, themes and XBOX Live content will be fully compatible with the new user interface. Specifics and particulars have not been given yet, and will more than likely not be released until closer to the update launch period.
A more in depth look at all the new features and additions, which will be added during the update, can be browsed through on the official XBOX website.
