The original Gears of War that was released exclusively for XBOX 360, and later released to the PC, is one of the most popular XBOX 360 games in history. Over 4.7 million copies of the game have been sold to date.

Gears of War 2, the hit sequel to the first person action shooter Gears of War will release in a month (mid-November). GOW2 is said to be bigger, better, and faster paced than the original.

Gears of War thrusts players in the middle of battle between humankind and an underground dwelling race of creatures known as the Locust Horde. The creatures remained dormant under the earth’s surface until what is known in the game as “emergence day”, where they rose and began attacking the human race. The first game left many unanswered questions at the end, such as why the Locust were destroying Earth, what they wanted, and who in the world the female narrator tied to the Locust horde was. Those who have played the game know what “female narrator” I’m talking about, those that haven’t…well, you’re missing out.

Gears of War 2 will take place six months after the conclusion of the first game and continue the story about mankind’s epic battle with the Locust horde. The player once again will control the first game’s main character, Marcus Fenix, as he leads Delta Squad in fighting off the Locust and trying to stop their scheme. As with the first game, the spectacular visuals are once again raised past the norm and many new visual effects have been designed to create breathtaking scenery. This time around the producers claim the game will have a much deeper storyline, with new introduced characters, as well as most of the old ones. The more popular part of the game; the XBOX Live content, will return allowing players to play cooperatively and competitively versus others in new game modes in brand new maps. With all the new content and the great success of the first game, the sequel surely will not disappoint.
