Game Reviews, Wii

It’s finally here! Super Smash Bros. Brawl! After a long delayed release, this game has already sold over 1.4 million units each in Japan and North America.

This is the third installment of the Super Smash Bros. series, and it features more characters, more scenes, and in general, more fun! For those of you who don’t know what Super Smash Bros. even is, it is a multiplayer-centric series of fast-paced 2D fighting games that features a cast of characters from all over the Nintendo universe. Pretty much, it’s a fighting game, but an extremely fun one that isn’t gory or murderous. It is also the first game of its franchise to support online battles through Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection.

It is meant for the Wii and can be played using the Wii Remote on its side, the Wii Remote and Nunchuk together, the Classic Controller, or the GameCube controller. Players are also able to create profiles with personalized button configurations for each control method along with their chosen usernames.

I have yet to play it, but from what I’ve heard, it’s amazing! In the original version, there is an “adventure mode” in which one player plays through certain stages in order to complete a goal. Apparently, from what my friends have told me, in this new version you can go through that “adventure mode” (now called The Subspace Emissary) with multiplayers. People absolutely love that! Of course, they also love the new characters and features such as the stage creator that allows players to build their own stage to fight on. Using the connections, players can even send each other their created stages.

If it’s any better than Super Smash Bros. Melee (the second one), then wow, I can’t even begin to imagine how awesome this one is going to be.
