StarCraft_II_ZergMany people eagerly were awaiting the arrival of StarCraft II this year, but this summer Cydra, an assistant RTS community manager, posted in a locked thread that the release of this game was going to be postponed until sometime early in 2010. Though, to some, this is very upsetting news, it makes sense that they would not release this much anticipated game until it was completely done. There is no sense in releasing a game that the designers are not 100% satisfied with just because a release date had been set.

Cydra had written, “Today we announced that StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty will not be ready for release by the end of 2009. Over the past couple of weeks, it has become clear that it will take longer than expected to prepare the new Battle.net for the launch of the game. The upgraded Battle.net is an integral part of the StarCraft II experience and will be an essential part of all of our games moving forward.” They will take as much time as they need in order to create a game that exceeds the standards and expectations that their players, and the designers themselves, have set. The game itself is ready and is being tweaked, but the main obstacle is the Battle.net site.

What is StarCraft II? The first StarCraft was an incredible hit, and this one is going to be even better. As a competitive real-time strategy game, this game will include three completely distinct and balanced races, the protoss, terran, and zerg. It is different from the original StarCraft in the sense that it will run on an exciting new 3D-graphics engine. This will enable the game to have beautiful landscapes, massive army sizes, and more. Battle.net now will include some new and exciting features to enhance online play and competition. Another aspect of the game that gamers are excited about is the single-player mode.

As for this single-player mode, the game will allow interactions with characters from the original StarCraft: Brood War. The plot will pick up several years after the events from the original, but as a single player you will be able to guide your own course via a series of missions and technology upgrades.

The original StarCraft was an incredible hit, it is no wonder why people are eagerly awaiting its sequel!
