Pokemon Trading With the GTS Negotiations

Do you desperately want to complete your shiny Pokemon collection? Maybe you only need Ho-oh or Celebi before you are qualified to brag to all your friends about having every single legendary Pokemon known to man. Unfortunately, none of your friends happen to have these Pokemon, you can’t attend special events, and you don’t want to cheat using Action Replay.

Believe it or not, there is still one way you can get these Pokemon if you own Pokemon Black or White. What many people value the most about the newest generation of Pokemon games is that you no longer have to be in the same room, nor do you need a cord, to trade, play, and battle with other Pokemon players.

Before you can use the GTS for the first time, you must get connected. Walk to the nearest Pokecenter and go up the stairs that are to the very right. Talk to the woman and you should come across a number of options, but the one you should pick is “Global Trade.” Pick “Start Negotiations” and you should be prompted to save your progress.

After successfully saving your game, your character should enter an elevator, which will lower him or her into a chamber for trading. You will be asked if you want to connect, and you should respond by picking the “Yes” option.

There are two methods of trading if you’re using GTS Negotiations. If you choose the option “Trade Rendezvous,” that means you’ve chosen to trade with someone at an arranged time after swapping friend codes. On the other hand, if you’re willing to trade with anyone in the world, you should pick the option “Trade with Anyone.”

If you pick the first option, you should be taken to a list of people who you know. You have the friend codes of these trainers, and they have your friend code as well. If you choose the other option, you should be taken to the “Trade Wanted” screen.

Once you reach the “Trade Wanted” screen, you will be prompted to choose the type of Pokemon you want and what level you want it to be. If you’re not picky, you can just choose “Any Kind.” Once you’re done, press the “Search” button. Once you press this button, the GTS system will create a list of possible trade partners. Of course, the system will take a few minutes before it can give you the complete list.

Once the system gives you a potential trade partner, you will be asked to put up three Pokemon that you are willing to trade, and your trade partner will be asked to do the same. You and your partner can use icons to express your opinions about the Pokemon put up for trade. For example, if you like a Pokemon put up for trade, you can use the heart or smiley icon.

After the both of you have chosen three Pokemon to trade, both of you will be asked to confirm. You will select one of their Pokemon, they will select one of yours, and then the transaction will begin. Once the trade is complete, you will be taken to the GTS Negotiations main menu.
