Lord of the Rings Online

I have to admit, I’m not a heavy gamer. Honestly, I tried the newest Halo for less than 10 minutes. Some true gamers might call that a crime. (Don’t shoot me!) One of my friends, however, used to spend much of his time playing different video games. I decided to ask him about his experiences. Here’s how it went:
What’s your favorite computer/video game? My favorite computer game is Lord of the Rings Online, more commonly known as LOTRO.
What makes LOTRO better than the rest of the available games? Nothing can compare to LOTRO’s graphics. They are beyond that of any other MMORPG. Also, the atmosphere in LOTRO is much different from that of most online games. In LOTRO, random people will help you out on your quests or for killing something. In other popular games, such as WOW, they will laugh at you or watch you die.
Can you clarify, what’s an MMORPG? Massive multiplayer online role-playing game.
Wow, that’s a mouthful. So what’s the point of the game? The point of the game is like any other MMORPG: you live the life of your character. This time it’s inside Middle Earth. You can complete quests, journey to dungeons, meet your favorite Lord of the Rings characters, or maybe settle down and buy a house and learn an instrument. The choices are almost limitless, and more are being added each year.
So, it’s like a virtual world. Cool. How much does it cost to play? Right now the price is $10 a month because of a special offer, but the regular price is $15 a month. There are other options, such as the life-time offer (pay $199.99 and you’ll be able to play forever and never have to worry about paying again) and 3 month, 6 month, and 12 month offers, each chipping a little off the overall price.
Seems pricey, but it’s worth it? Definitely.
