Officials of U.S. technology venture firm NeuroSky Inc. say that a brain controlled video game is excepted to hit the Japanese market sometime in 2009.

What is the concept behind this brain controlled game? Well, this company has made a headset called MindSet. The headset can tell the mental states of users by analyzing their brain wave signals, and then this data is interpreted and transmitted wirelessly. You have to have a lot of concentration to play with this headset. Apparently, the characters will not run quickly or throw balls very far unless the users concentrate enough.

NeuroSky is working with Square Enix to develop the game. They demonstrated their MindSet controller in a brainwave-controlled video game at the Tokyo Game show in Makuhari, Japan, on October 9th, 2008. The demonstration was definitely a success!

Using  brain controlled technology eventually could be implemented into various products. There are about 40 companies throughout the world who are trying to alter this technology and incorporate it into their products. For instance, there is a company that has thought about making a music player that automatically selects songs by analyzing the feelings of users. How cool is that?

Using brain controlled technology is going to get more popular as the years go by. Look at that, we’re going from wired controllers, to the Wii, now to this! All in a few years.
